How do I choose a good naturopath?
How do I choose a good naturopath?
Simple, ask questions. Ask as many questions as you need to feel confident that the person that you are going to share private health details with is a qualified, knowledgeable and ethical practitioner. A good naturopath will welcome your questions and concerns. A good naturopath will not only answer your questions but put your mind at ease and gain your confidence in his/ her knowledge.
Ask questions as to what your consultation will involve. Will it be a simple case taking history or will any physical examinations and tests be included? Will you receive dietary and lifestyle suggestions at your first visit and are you obliged to purchase supplements?
A good naturopath will aim to educate, empower and motivate you to assume more responsibility for your health. They will guide you through adopting a healthy attitude, lifestyle and diet to support your quality of life, health and wellbeing, thus preventing disease.
And of course, a good naturopath will hold either a Bachelor of Health Science Naturopathy or an Advanced diploma in Naturopathy. They will be a member of a professional association for natural therapists and attend regular professional seminars to keep up-to-date with recent research and developments within the natural health industry.
